I have been copying a lot of MP3's onto my CDRW recently. The CD also seemed to be slighlty scratched and maybe overused. COuld this be a possible explanation for the problem. What are the other possible causes? Could it just be dust? Do I need to send it to a comp tech?

Yes, it's entirely possible that scratches on the CD-RW disc are making the disc unreadable. Try another disc to see if that new one works. You can also sometimes clean up the scratched disc by using a brass cleaner polish called "Brasso". Use it per the directions, only rubbing and polishing from the center outward toward the edge...NOT in a circular manner. Hope this helps.
