Congratulations on your pregnancy.
How do you avoid what? I am not sure I understand? The time to take pills to avoid pregnancy (if that is what you are asking) has long since past. You have 72 HOURS from the time of the unprotected intercourse. By this time your baby has a little heart that is beating. There is no way to avoid conception at this time. It has already occurred.
If you are asking about an early form of abortion that uses pills I assume that you are referring to RU 486 or Mifeprex. It is effective in ending early pregnancies up to 9 weeks. It can be used up to 63 days since the first day of the last period and contrary to some of the answers you have been given it is legal in the US. You are given a dosage of pills at the clinic or doctors office and then you take another dose 2-6 days later. The pills cause lower abdominal cramping, vaginal bleeding, nausea and vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms can sometimes be quite severe. You will need to have another ultrasound two weeks later to be sure that the abortion is complete. I would hate to think that these are the "pills" that you mention. Please think very carefully before you decide to destroy this little life. I mention this option only because you asked about "pills" and in order to be fair I have to mention all the options available.
You are also wrong in your calculations. Your pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last period, which was probably December 5th judging from what you say. January 5th was one month and February 5th will be two months.
It seems that you evidently do not want this baby. Maybe your feelings will change as your pregnancy progresses. I certainly hope so. Believe me not all women are thrilled when they first find out that they are pregnant. Remember that it is a tiny bit of you growing inside of you. A tiny little person that will love you more than anything in the world.
Go to the doctor and have your pregnancy confirmed if you have not already done that and start taking your prenatal vitamins. You need to take Folic Acid, that is very important if you think you might want to continue this pregnancy.
What ever you do, do not consider ending this precious little babies life. If you do not want her there are literally thousands of women that can never have the treasure that you carry inside of you. Let one of them adopt your baby. Do not deny this little baby the right to live. Let her gow up to giggle and run and be a little person. Believe me you will regret it all your life if you kill this tiny baby who is guilty of no crime other than existing.
Have you talked to the father about it? You may be surprised at his reaction to all of this.
Give life a chance. Think about it and don't make and quick decisions. Listen to your heart.
Feel free to write to me and I will talk to you about all the options that are available. If you do not have a support system please let me be there for you, I would be happy to help.
Take care and I hope to hear from you. I know that I am a complete stranger and just words on a computer screen but this is what I do and I am here to help. Write to me anytime and I will write back.
Blessings.

Sounds like you are already 4 weeks pregnant. I would take a pregnancy test to confirm this. If you are then the only thing you can do is either have the baby or abort it. The morning after pill has to be taken within a day or two after having unprotected sex.
For future reference..you are most fertile approximately 12-16 days after your menstrual cycle..avoid sex at that time

If you've gotten a positive pregnancy test, you can no longer avoid pregnancy. Your only way out of it would abortion or adoption. The morning after pill is only effective right after unprotected sex, hence the name morning after pill.

If you don't want a child, you should have been using protection, or not having sex at all. How women get pregnant has not changed since the dawn of time.

If you are pregnant (test is needed here), you cannot just "avoid it". It is likely that you are a month pregnant, if you have skipped a period completely.

There are chemical or surgical ways to procure an abortion, but you must be clear with the fact that both are abortions!!!

Chemical abortion require special pills - not just a birth control. It is called RU468. Note that as we speak is not approved for use in the US - anti abortion groups... I believe it can be used only for therapeutic reasons.

In all cases, whatever you decide, you should go to a doctor as soon as you can. All decisions in this situation must be taken in a hurry, because the longer you wait, the more difficult the abortion is, and in most countries there are time limitations.

Missing a period is not a guarantee of being pregnant, but a pregnancy test may help you find out if you are actually pregnant.

I would suggest going to your nearest sexual health clinic or GP for advice. There are options for terminating a suspected pregancy at this early stage, but you should seek the advice of a medical practitioner before choosing any route.

To avoid pregnancy over a longer term, you should ask your GP about contraceptive pills.

In any case, you should always use a condom to protect yourself from sexually transmitted conditions.

Use one of the other methods out there. The shot, the patch, the pill, the sponge, etc. Although none of these protect against STDs like condoms do. Just go to the ob/gyn. If you're concerned about what people think, say you have really bad cramps and that is why you are on the pill/want to see the doc. Then tell the doc, who isn't allowed to tell anyone else, that you want better protection against pregnancy.

If you're one month pregnant already, you have to get an abortion I believe if you want to get rid of the baby. Not that I would recommend one....
