there is a flash based menu on the yahoo homepage.
ie www.yahoo.com
in the near top right corner.
sign in to yahoo network.
then
return to yahoo homepage (do a refresh if the display isn't updated).
move your mouse over the Messenger tab.
it will open in a few moments displaying the list of online friends.
it would also display friends even if they are invisible.
i also catch my friends online by this way.

they have signed on as invisible for a reason, leave them alone
