There was an interesting story on CBS news yesterday 16.01 that covered your question. According to CBS research the % of single women jumped from 49% in 2001 to 51% in 2005. It was 35% back in the 1950's!

And now the angry women chirp in with abstract assumptions men are at fault for the fairytales their mothers told them.. Part of the reason I think is because marriage in the past was about financial securtiy and stablility because women's options finacially were limited. As women are now in many cases making more money then men they don't have the mentality of trying to find a man to take care of them. Which is a GOOD thing.
The other part is media creating all of these ideal men models like guys they are holding out til something "better comes along," or have just decided that they don't need a man to make them happy. Which I think is a BAD thing. Part of marriage is about compromise and commitment and if we are incapable of that when what are we as a society if we lose the capability and willingness to communicate, and compromise?
I understand independence but now I the pendulum seems to be swinging to "we're better then men, we don't need em." I think having that kind of attitude PERIOD is wrong REGARDLESS of gender because it's based in resentment. There is this unreal expectation.
It's about roles and women are beginning to buy into the role that men are unneccessary. It's a power trip because before there was the perception they had none. Which is false because throughout history and even in the dynamic between men and women you will see it.
This manipulated movement in the states is in part due to the media tv and magazines telling people what's in what's out creating a perception of unreal expectations. Men's roles have been analyzed, scrutinized and redesigned over and over. But women's? The new upcoming role for men is "friends with benefits."
The fact is women are picking up on the worst habits of bad men out there that have give the rest of us a bad name.
Karma? Or irony?
Personally I think it's just selfish and egocentric. I WANT a women in my life and would go far as to say need one because life without them would be boring and really suck. Women who disagree are just angry and bitter. I'm not talking about using someone as a crutch I'm talking about wanting them to be around more then enough to view them as disposable.

And the insecure, bitter men crawl out... Who cares if someone chooses to live without a spouse, it's their life. Male or female, it's all about being secure with your emotional and financial standing. And honestly... how many Prince Charming live-happily-after-ever-after marriages that you chose to partake in actually worked out that way?

Because we don't WANT one. And I don't go to bars, strip clubs etc...as the previous poster claims...obviously he's not a very good authority on women and probably is insecure about his own "sexuallity" anyway...obviously he is jealous of something.

The majority of women are incapable of love. They like men, and will marry and share child-rearing as long as he has some money, but this is not love -- it is convenience.

because the whole USA women have it wat they need in the clubs , bars ,strip clups and even the guys get all kind of gurls in the sex clubs and thats y they dont waste their time with their spouse
