He's the most influential song writer ever. Without him, Hendrix would have no "All Along the Watch Tower." Clapton and Guns n' Roses would have no "Knocking on Heaven's Door." Most importantly, he had early influence on the Beatles, who in turn transformed the musical world. However, he sings awful.

He's just a brilliant poet and songwriter. Many people are unaware of all the music he has written. He' just does not have the voice SOME PEOPLE want to listen to. I do, though. I like his singing. He gives me hope and inspiration.

1) beause he is a genius

2) they aren't 'crap', they're just very uneven. Some are brilliant and some are awful.
