Yes, but its not as easy as it sounds. Every once in a while the courts receive a divorce petition where the judge feels or senses something out of the ordinary for whatever reason and feels there is some reason for not granting it. So the judge then usually refers the couple to counseling for a set amount of time. At the end of that time the judge receives a detailed report from the counselor who voices their opinion as to whether this marriage can be saved. If it can be saved, the judge rules in favor of the marriage and no divorce is granted. Although this is rare, it does happen alot throughout the world. So just because one files for divorce, there is no guarantee one will get it

I've know of an instance where the judge made the couple go to counseling for a year before he would grant them a divorce.
