The problem is household for many parents. The best way to keep children away from TV is to engage them in various physical activities or sports. To start with, parents need to cut down on the time they spend before the TV and spend time with kids. Kids like their parents spending time with them. If a parent does not spend time with the kid, the kid will look for other easy alternatives such as TV or a video game.

Turn off the TV. It's your TV, right? Have them watch educational programs like Nova and Spongebob, rather than crap like Springer and Povich, if they must watch. Select what you think is appropriate, if anything. Definitely limit how much they watch and what they watch. You didn't buy the TV with the idea of destroying your children, did you? Of course not. Remind them that it's your TV, and you will choose what is viewed, if anything is viewed at all.

1. Find something else for them to do that interests them.

2. Set limits and let them know the rules in advance. "From now on, only four TV shows per day. After that, you can play outside or find something else to do."

3. Be firm and communicate. "This is the last show you can watch today. After this, you are going to play outside" or something else that interests them.

4. Be strong and don't back down. It will get easier as they get used to the routine.

it is the comman problem which most of the parents are facing. first of all u have to give your valuable time to your children ,u also have to develop a friendly relation with them and then only share ur views regarding theside effects of watching the t.v. for along time. But never try to impose ur order on them .also make a standard time schedule to watch the t.v. programme and try to accompany them during the programmes.
