perhaps you could consider your misery as nostalgia. sure, it's nice to be able to reminisce the past but the part of reminiscing that makes you miserable is the fact that those moments have already come and gone. basically, it's a part of growing up. as you mature, you realize how much time has passed you. you start to realize the true value of the things you have experienced.

yeah, definitely there have been high and low points in your life during the past years. i guess it's just part of human behavior that one tends to be more attentive to the negative stuff.

it really hurts sometimes to have to realize that what already happened couldn't be taken back - it's like a fixed mark in your life story that couldn't be erased at all. you become miserable mostly out of the regret of knowing you could've done better or could've avoided some negative circumstance.

nostalgia sometimes could really get the better of people. however, it's not a permanent form of misery. try adjusting the way you look at your situation. sure, a lot of things are now just part of the unchangeable past. however, you could use your experience to live the present better and make your way to a better future.

People who're controlling and grasping for what different folks have will use anything they are able to to obtain manage. In a few circumstances that has incorporated faith, which in charge ancient evaluation has proven. In communists' case it is for the "well of the state" or anything different intent. You can not get rid of Stalin out of your evaluation, nor Mao, Pol Pot, and so on. and so on. as they did what they did within the title of the state, that is the identical as atheism. It is NOT the religion that's evil, however instead the folks who use the title of God or every other with a purpose to get what they wish. If that is your excuse for being an atheist, it feels like a really deficient one. That places you within the Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot camp.

It's the downside to nostalgia. We all miss the happy moments of our life, so when we're reminded of them it can be a bit heartrending. It's probably nothing.

Basic rule for any kind of psychological problem is, if it's not disrupting your day-to-day life, it's probably not serious. If it's really hardcore 'misery', the kind that makes you quit your day, go home early and cry, then you might want to get a professional to help.

Again though, it just sounds like nostalgia. I wouldn't get too stressed over it.

It's prolly not the memories that are causing the saddness. You're prolly just feeling a bit low for no reason at all. You'll prolly feel fine in a few hours.

Could be depression. Or it could be that you're unhappy with a present situation, hense, the old videos and movie songs make you nostalgic for a happier time.
