Well, in my opinion, out of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (I haven't seen the others), Harry Potter is the better story. Its really fantisiful and supernatural, which personally appeals to me. I find the characters easy to get to like and know and develop attachments to. I think the plot in both is amazing, however, Harry Potter is only set in a few locations, whereas LOTR was set over a lot of locations, and I found it hard to keep up with. I also found the characters less likeable and harder to associate with. However, overall, I think LOTR has a more dramatic storyline, which makes it extremely interesting. In all though, I would say I prefer HP, and in both cases, preferred the books to the movies, as they were more indepth and interesting!

Star Wars, because its the one that I would change the least. I would either make episode's 1 and 2 closer to the pacing and ammount of action and story ast eps. 3 through 6. But the core telling of the story would stay the same for me
Lord of the Rings, if I maintained the level of depth then at least I would focus it on story, action and character development just waaaay too much environemntal setup for me, Jackson definately caught Tolkein's knack for spending several pages on describing a rock on film.
Harry Potter - I would revamp to a 90210 esque teen drama. And I would ensure there's a bit of differences in each chapter (MOVIE/VOLUME) so they don't go step by step in the same formula like an episode of the ATEam
Pirate of the Carribean - 3rd movie unseen, probally all 3 volumes could be condensed into one
ultimately on which is the better "story" they are all various extrapolations on the basic good vs. evil concept started waaaaay back with good ole beowulf.

Lord of the Rings is a good tale, as Tolkien created an entierly believable world and populated it with entirely believable characters. The Star Wars story, while equally as good, is an adaptation of Kurasawa's "The Hidden Fortress", so the accolades should really go to him. I'm not gonna write an essay on the others at 9:49 in the morning though, sorry.

wow, they are all pretty different. I'd say harry potter(the books, not movies) because of the detail and amazing character development and how they grow up and change in every book. Also how Rowling is able to incorporate problems and issues everyone faces in a fantasy storyline. I grew up loving Star wars but sorry the prequels ruined some of their magic for me.
Pirates? no offense to anyone but i wouldn't even consider them grouping them with the other three, they are fun movies but don't have anything substantial to offer.
As far as LOTR, i appreciate them but simply am not a fan of the genre, but did enjoy them.

Star Wars is # 1 hands down.
They teach Star Wars as Modern American Mythology in some colleges.
The story and characters are deep. The Jedi are now a religous sect in U.S.A.
The other movies above are great, some greater than others, but STAR WARS is The Grandest Epic ever told.

Each have their rightful place within their own generes. Star Wars is the king of all Sci-Fi. LOTR, obviously, is the king of all Fantasy. Harry Potter is more of a contemporary children's fantasy genere.
Why did you include Pirates of the Caribbean? This is not literature. There was never a book, only movies.
I personally find LOTR the most compelling.

Lord of The Rings is the best. most of the peopel say that you cant understand the meaning easly. that is right to understand it u must go deaply into it. i totaly undestood the movie. i have seen the three part about four times and still want to see it again.
Star Wars is a meaning less one. stupid film, they go and fight with out a reason. maybe i is my fault that i didnt under stand it but it is a stupid story. i hated the stoy worst when the killed that beautyfull girl. it was heart breaking i alomost cried.
i have no opinion on the other.

Star Wars here. I liked The Lord of the Rings, but it was much too lengthy, and too much of the same old kill-the-Orks battle scenes for me.
