As an englishman who recently visited the usa i noted how the states has a problem with mexican immigration. I went to a museum in the sates and saw the history of the usa and mexico and how they were founded a similar time and mexico had the backing of the wealthy spanish government. So when did the spanish/mexicans mess it all up.

Mexico was a native people similar to the North american tribes, they became Mexico, like Mixico, a mix after the invasion of the southern half of America, the French ruled there as well, as the Spanish. They both inevitably used and abused the people and starved them and stole their lands and gold and everything, giving the control to the many mix until the mix turned on them and they were overthrown to rule themselves then they were pigs about government as well as the royales and they too starved their own people and power and greed took over like the Federalis? Killing and stealing? We had enough of that in Texas and wanted civilization so do you remember the Alamo after Sam Houston took over, there you have it. They still associated with France and Spain, and sold everything including their people for individual wealth. They never used their skills or money to improve on their own hygene either thus leaving it to other governments to come in and spend and build for them. Like Japan now in Mexico city? Or Russia for weapons to fight the public or should I say murder? President Fox is a better president and he is trying but admittedly he revealed his country is a century behind us give or take 15 years? And that they need to get rid of their corrupted Federalis, but that is why Fox has heavy armory around him night and day. Oh and by the by the drug dealers down there have loads of our money as well. ha ha And they don't share with their own people either. That is why those illegals are coming here, no money and no good water? That is a problem?

I cannot speak to how colonial Mexico may or may not have contributed to the current state of Mexico, but I do know a little about Mexico during the earlier to mid 1800s. Prior to the Mexican revolution, the bulk of the wealth was divided into three parts - Spanish born Mexicans, the Roman Catholic Church and Spanish taxes. The Mexican poor tried a few rebellions in the same spirit as the French revolution, but it was not until the wealthy Spanish born Mexicans joined the fight that the Spanish crown was defeated and Mexican independence recognized. The wealthy had little interest in running the country, and went about their own way seeking profits. The middle class became the ruling class and were very corrupt (Santa Anna and others). Also, the government incurred debts from loans taken to fight the various rebellions. By the time Mexico was free, it could not afford to pay its debts. Then, following the Texas fight for independence and eventual annexation of Texas into the United States, Mexico was forced to sell off California after losing the U.S-Mexican War. One has to imagine Mexico would be better off financially had it retained California during the 1849 gold rush.

Mexico has always been crushingly poor with 5% mostly of Spanish origin with 90% of the wealth and they intend to keep it, They have had dozens of revolutions, but when the new leaders have come to power they have been exactly the same as the ones they deposed. In the early 1900 about 1919 land reform returned vast tracks of land to the native indians and it vast mineral resorces started to lift it out of its poverty but the catholic policy on children has made the poulation grow much faster than its growth and even with the oil finds which are now petering out hasn,t helped much

Mexico has not developed along the same lines as the US and Canada because Mexico has been under the control of of various extremely conservative governments for about the last 90 years. One of the most conservative and the most repressive influence in their culture has been the Roman Catholic Church, unfortunately. The one influence that has the power and the access to change these peoples' lives for the good, and they are obsessed with rampant procreation, of all things! They should be ashamed of themselves!
