My favorite has been the movie Gettysburg which was based of the novel "Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara. The movie was great, but the book will captivate you. It does such a good job of really showing both sides of the Civil War so that you can relate to everyone. Being from the North, we were just kinda taught that the South was a bunch of redneck idiots who wanted to keep slaves. Now that I live in the South, it is funny to see how the story changes. Read the book or watch the movie and you'll get so much more out of it than reading all the text books in high school.
