Im not a gay basher or anything because im gay myself, but how come theres so many gays that are so materialistic, and its not even that that's the problem, its just it seems so many of them are snotty and stuck up and think their the cutest thing to be brought into the world. Usually it seems like the effeminate ones. Anyone notice that? I'll admit i like material things BUT how come so many are like the male version of Paris Hilton? It kind of disgusts me to be honest...

First, let me say that I am a woman, and not a lesbian. However, from a very young age (as I was a drama major), I associated with MANY gays and a few lesbians, and yes, I have noticed this, so have several of my friends. I cannot say that I have seen this trait in the more
effeminate gay men. What I DO know for a fact,
is that a great deal of gay men come from a wealthy background, are of super-high intelligence, are very driven in whatever they do, they dress very well, most have great personalities, are very trustworthy and sincere. they are great to work for/with, and most often you'll find they have terrific personalities. Throw all these qualities together and you'll find the
best guy for the best job. And, let's face it, the guy with the best job is making a lot of bucks.
You will NOT find a lot of gay guys working at McDonald's, etc. No, most often they are stock brokers, attorneys, doctors/RN's, CEO's CFO's
of large corporations and the like. Now, at this level of wealth also comes the materialistic
"appearance". However, that's exactly what it is: "appearance". But, you can safely bet-the-farm that they have all their ducks in a row:
IRA's, stocks/bonds, excellent medical insurance, great retirement plan, fantastic portfolio, and a company car. So, I'd say that this is not just being "materialistic". Rather, it's
somewhat the way I feel---if you've got it, flaunt
or spend it--we can't take it with us. Hope I was able to give you some in-sight to your question.

Because it's easier for them to be. Think about....gay men who are more or less stereotypical aren't very family-oriented at all and as a result they have quite a bit of "disposable income." They really don't have the same belief structure as the general, more common, "heterosexual" society. (which includes the notion that people are meant to be commited to one person.) So instead of wasting all their time and money on their children's future they can waste it on....themselves. There are many people that disagree with this lifestyle, including other gays- but it is what it is. Catty bitches exist everywhere, why should gays be any different?

I was at Best Buy the other day watching a guy, clearly gay with this giant smile on his face as he bought like everything in sight. Are these people truly happy or are they compensating for something? Well, who the **** am I to judge? They're just different than me....and if every gay man was the same, we'd be incredibly boring. (from an evolutionary stand-point it wouldn't be very benefical either because we would lack competition and competition is part of how a species evolves)

I kinda like the male Cordelias....they're not like me, but they're different and some of them can be hilarious. Again, if we were all the same it would be boring.

I don't see that there are "so many" of "us" that are like that, but the ones who are tend to be also very visible. Just realize they are not true representatives of the entire population of gay men, sort of like the same thing that goes on in a Pride parade, there can be 200 low key "regular" homosexuals there but the crowd only notices the one guy with the mustache, hot pink feather boa and tutu with a wand pointing at the crowd and screaming "Poof, you're a fairy."

you just met the wrong ones.......i know a lot of gay friends who would do anything for you.....they make the best friends you can have. they will be there for you no matter what.

many of them have excellent taste and are very artistic too. some are also misunderstood a great deal. society does not make it easy for them to be themselves. i guess they are just like the rest of the people in the world.....you will find good people and bad people like everyone else. ....hopefully, you will meet the some really nice ones and find out what great people they are.

Dude don't worry about it too much.

There are plenty of gays out there who are low key, masculine and down-to-earth as well.
