Not unless your doctor admits you to the hospital but that usually doesn't happen unless it is a late term abortion, or the doctor feels the patient won't follow his instructions for aftercare.

Depends on the procedure. An early term abortion will take a couple of hours, no more. A late term one will mean at least one night in hospital, possibly two or three. If there are complications you may be in for a lot longer.

Being admitted into hospital would be dependent on circumstances, as mentioned by other people, but usually it's done as a Day Case where you're admitted in the morning then discharged when the nurses and doctors feel it's safe for you to go home and rest.

It's also dependent on how many weeks pregnant the patient is.

Not normally, no. However it is a good idea to go with a friend or family member and let them drive; even though you're allowed to leave it may be a bit much go get behind the wheel right away. Just take it easy for a bit both physically & emotionally.

Most abortions are conducted on an outpatient basis, i.e. you are only there a couple of hours. Unusual circumstances might require an overnight stay.
