No,I dont think they do.

Robbie Williams isnt getting a mention this year because his last album wasnt too good,but love him or loathe him every one of his tour dates was a complete sell out in minutes a couple of months ago.

I guess if it was done democratically, past recipients of Brits may have been Steps or Bob the Builder or Westlife of something, so I suppose you have to respect the opinions of people in the business

Not anymore, I don't think. Nowadays, the emphasis is more on the pre-show (at least if it's anything like the American award shows): who's wearing what, who came with whom, who's best dressed, who's worst dressed, etc. etc.

Most people I've seen watching those shows change the channel as soon as the award show itself starts.
