Just download a free software "FreshUI" and run it. It gives options to delete cookies, cache, history on startup and a whole lot of other tweaks for the computer. It also enables hidden features(works best on XP)This is the easiest method.
OR
Upgrade to IE7 and go to internet options>general there is a button to wipe out history,cache,cookies....
The above method is standard on all IE versions...

To clear the history:
Control Panel > Internet Option> Clear History,
try to delete the files and cookies too.

To removed address on the IE address bar.
Start> Run> type regedit> Current User or Local machine (Its is in either one) > software> microsoft> internet explorer> TypedURLs. --- deleted it from there

Delete all folders and files except desktop.ini and index.dat

Back up to C:
Winnt
Temporary Internet files
All Files and Folders except index.dat and desktop.ini

Back to WINNT
Temp
Cookies
Edit
Select All
Delete

Back To Temp
History
History.IE5
All files and folders except desktop.ini and index.dat

Back to Temp
Temporary Internet files
Content.IE5
delete all folders and files except desktop.ini and index.dat

Tools
Folders Options
View
DO not show hidden folders

close
