I think you've pretty much answered your own question: there's ALWAYS been a majority of the global public that tends to clearly accept female bi or homosexuality and cast a view of scourge on equal exposure of male bi or homosexuality. Before the last 20 or so years, this accepting social majority was pressed into silence.
Now, they've "come out" and the views are still the same. It's a possible given these actresses may be either lesbian or bi.....or maybe straight but see no problem w/ a little "visit" to the bi side of sexuality from time to time.
And finally, believe it or not--there are straight men and women who (sometimes quietly to this day) find no problem with the bi or gay lifestyles of other men and women; they let such be a choice of others.

Salma (in Frida) and Angelina (in Gia) were portraying real women so it was true to life for their characters. We know that Angelina and Madonna have had relationships with women in the past so they are bi. The Madonna and Britney/Christina kiss was clearly a major publicity stunt. Madonna tries to keep reinventing herself and that was one of the few boundaries she had yet to cross on screen (kissing younger girls). Is it nasty and disgusting to straight women? Quite frankly if you close your eyes one pair of lips is pretty much the same as another regardless of the gender of the person attached to them. For actresses the best way to win an award (Oscar, Emmy, etc) is to play someone who is mentally ill, drug addicted, a stripper/prostitute, bisexual/gay, or all of these. Both Salma and Angelina were awarded for those roles.
Actors always say that filming love scenes are very technical and that there is nothing romantic involved. In the Showtime TV series "The L Word" there are some pretty graphic lesbian sex scenes but almost all of the actresses are straight in real life.

no it doesnt mean that they are bisexual (although some might be!). they do it to get publicity. the more outrageous or raunchy etc a video/film etc is, the more likely people will want to watch it out of curiousity. for example, i never watch award shows. but when it was all over the news that madonna had snogged briteny, i had to watch the show to see what all the fuss was about. the more publicity a star gets, the more likely they are to sell more albums/singles/films. plus i think watching lesbian scenes in a movie or in real life is every mans fantasy. so its a smart move to gain a lot of publicity.
at the end of the day u see women doing it but u also see men doing it. ots just that little less common with men. brokback mountain for example; it was given so much publicity that it sold milions at the box office.... and i know i watched it out of curiosity due to all the media coverage it had.
so thats my answer to your question... hope it helps

The answer is money...money makes hollywood dothe unspeakable. However I wish they would stop because it's just not sexy. I find the day when I will have to explain to my daughter why woman don't respect their own bodies....some men love it...scary. Remember we can't judge everyone as being the same...class lasts forever.

Publicity. It gets them in the news or spotlight. It's that simple. Nothing to do with sexuality.
