Nope, didn't work for me!
I try to mostly sit in a shade, you still get tan, only not as intense and damaging to your skin. So I took some Tan pills a couple of years ago on my holiday with that ingredient to get a better tan. Did not work.
What I do now is get a little bit of sunshine, loads of good sun protector though, + self-tan, looks great and good for me!
You can get aftersun lotions with little self tan in them - great! I came from holiday recently, was in a sun probably couple of hours a day, using only that aftersun, - I had a wonderful glow!

You can't take Melanin supplements, Melanin is what is forms in your skin as a result of UV/UB exposure - it protects your skin from further damage. You need a blend of copper and L - Tyrosine in tablet form. If you go to Holland & Barrett they sell their own version of this called Tan Tablets. It's not a substitute for sun protection though, and it won't stop sun burn, premature aging or melanomas.

Beta Carotine and Vitamin E. Studies have shown that these help to mop up the free radicals produced when sunlight strikes your skin. Don't forget the sunblock though as no supplement will allow you to spend all day in the sun. If you do over do it try Aloe Vera gel - the more aloe the better. Keep it in the fridge and it feels lovely when you put it on.

Don't bother taking supplements. Just buy a "pre-sun" lotion, and you'll find that it accomplishes the same thing at a fraction of the price.
