Yes in the term of Space-Technology, Scientific-Development, Economy-growth, Humal resource development and Infrastructure, Industrialisation & Power-generation. But not Political Peace &stability ! States are still fighting. Ex. over kauvery river issue in the south. Politically each & every state have difrence in opinion & in-tollerable. Check china instead. Economicaly their capacity could be say equal with India but they are racing in front. If India needs to survice, political wise needs to be sit down. All the current laws needs to be reviewed. Stop BRIBERY! & help poverty. India needs to set goal to eliminate poverty by every roots & level. If it can able to tackle this, as your question phrase says India "WILL" emerge as a Developed Nation!

This is the right term - "emerging". Right now it making a real boom in every area. Maybe its greatest problem is the caste system and more specifically the huge group of the so-called "untouchables" - those, living on the very line of absolute poverty and misery. These are more than 200 million people! This must be changed.
I think maybe in 20-25 years India will be already a developed nation by all standards.

If US economy crashed heavily any investments in emerging markets would lead to a huge loss and it would end up taking a long time to recover. The short term investments would be a better choice with trade in period of less than a month on stable industries like construction, telecom and electronics.
