You can advertise on most search engines for free. It might be a basic listing but its still advertising.
Also if you do a google or yahoo search for merchandise or service that you sell, you should find other sites like directories, help/info websites, local yellow pages etc that list companies, you will find you can list for free or free only if you do a reciprocal link.
Advertise their site and they will advertise yours.

The first way is do a search for "free classified lists" find a huge list of free classifieds and devote hours to placing ads. Then do a search for "free search engine submissions" or "add url".There are several places out there that will submit free to several engines,try dreamsubmit.They are good.
