I had a K700i a while back with exactly the same problem. I was with Vodafone at the time - here is what I remember about their response:

The K700i (certain ones) have a software fault that stops the phone from automatically updating it's software. This is particularly true if you are out of reception area for a while. Basically the software screws up. SE are aware of this problem and you should take the phone back to your supplier for a software upgrade which will solve the problem.

I took mine back and never had the problem again, it took about a week for the upgrade and make sure you back up your contacts pics videos sounds etc as they are usually lost during the upgrade process.

Good luck with this annoying problem.

Your message centre number is irrelevant for receiving messages. Is is just the one friend who you can't recieve texts from? The problem may be with his phone not yours. Turn your phone on and off, call another friend to send you a text (or send me your number and I'll text you) and if you still can't receive them, call your network.

I think there's a problem with the message centre number, so u can check that if u only u know your centre number and also check whether there's something wrong with your phone because k700i has a problem of that sort.

Is your friend currently in another country? It's possible that your friend's mobile service provider doesn't allow sending of international messages. Or your mobile service provider restricts international messages from reaching you, or could be your friend's phone doesn't have enough credits for the message to reach you..

Contact your cell phone company and they will send the information to your phone.
