Expired is a bad word. If your HD won't boot, it has probably crashed and you need to replace it. You do have back ups, don't you? If the drive isn't spinning or the head is stuck, a ONE TIME FIX is to tap the HD as it should be starting up. Recover your data immediately because you may not have a second chance.

If it is really dead, not spinning I have heard putting it in the refrigerator for a while sometimes works. This only works once for data recovery.
If it another problem, you need to give more information.
