Do you plan on leaving the damper installed? Even with a vent in the bottom, I agree with the guy on the other question you had. You should seal the top of the chimney to assure that no or a minimum of moisture builds up inside.

Putting a vent at the bottom will only make the plasterboard want one at the top.

Mmmmm sounds like a good idea, I think, if I only knew what you were goin on about. What is it a new suit jacket? a rabbit hutch, something to keep the kids in or maybe you're boarding over a fireplace perhaps.......who knows-- the plot thickens
