My 5 year old was hanging on it and it slid off. GGrrrr. The post/button piece is still attached to the window. I just need to slide it on but can't quite figure it out. Do I need to press harder or does it somehow rotate and slide on. Thanks for any tips.

Some of them have a really small set-screw. If it does have one, loosen it to the point of almost falling out, then try sliding it on. If it does not have one, it slides on from the top.

you will need to get a special wrench to loosen - maybe a star wrench or a hexagonal wrench (dang I forgot what that babe is called ) that goes into the screw

will need to be loosened - but not removed -
should slide down over from the top - then tighten back up
