There are three kinds of dreams, those from yourself, those inspired by God (visions) and those prompted by the devil (nightmares). The dreams from the self are needed to sometimes filter and sift through events that occur during our waking hours, a sort of filing system mechanism. Those dreams from God are visions that can prophecy upcoming events in yours or others' lives. Nightmares, on the other hand, can be avoided and you can keep some dreams at bay by saying before you sleep: " I seek refuge in God." with sincerity.

Every problem has a solution and so does this one

As the Vedas say and now even medical science dreams can be prevented by sleeping either facing right or left. What the research says is that when we sleep facing our body up and we sleep facing right or left there is difference in the circulation of blood to organs(mainly like the brain and the heart) which makes all the difference between a dreamy sleep and a dream-less sleep
or
on the lighter side one option is to sleep in the day

No you will dream but you can through meditation learn to control your dreams. With the proper conditioning and If you choose this path you may even be able to have lucid dreams so that you can have an out of body experience.

Dreams are way the subconscious deals with things that happen in your life. Why would you not want to dream? If you are having BAD dreams, there are ways to make yourself wake up or "get away" from "the bad guys". When I was little, I taught myself to fly (in my dream) and would fly above and away from "the bad guys". Then I would wake up. I taught that to my son, who's 9 & sometimes has bad dreams, so now he does that, too.

They say that dreaming and deep dreaming comes in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) of sleep which occurs about 40 minutes into sleep so I guess my best guess would be not to let yourself sleep for more than about...30 minutes at a time?

Why do you ask? Is there a man in fedora hat, striped sweater and clawed hand stalking you? =^p

Set an alarm to go off, say, every 10 minutes. You'd barely get to sleep, let alone go into REM, so you wouldn't have a chance to dream. Wouldn't be good for you though. Studies suggest dreaming is essential to good mental and emotional health.

No. Everyone dreams while they sleep, the lucky people remember them. I've known people who only remembered a couple of dreams they had in their entire lives and wished they could remember more.
