My little dog was attacked and killed by two greyhounds owned by a couple who deny that their dogs did it even though they saw it happen. I have myself, my husband, and two other witnesses that saw the whole thing. The vet bills were very expensive because my dog lived for almost a week before passing away. I am finally taking them to court. I am starting to get nervous because I have never been in court before and I'm pretty sure that they are going to deny everything that I say. Are the witnesses enough evidence? Is it smarter to try mediation? Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Make sure you have submitted all the written material to the court, per the court rules. Include as documentation to the court- clean copies of all bills for medical care, statement from the Vet as to the cause of the injuries, statements of the witnesses. Include witnesses who are not related to you, if possible, as they have more credibility. Make sure you read the court rules!!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. It must have been a horrifying experience. I lost one the same way, but at least I didn't witness it. Just saw the evidence after the fact, and yes, the vet bills were expensive, even though Dolly didn't survive through surgery. I don't have any experience with the courts position on your issue, but would hope that your witnesses would be enough. Be sure you have your documentation: vet bill statements, and likely statements from your witnesses.
Try to keep your wits about you, and keep emotional displays out of the courtroom. Maybe a tear shed in your little dogs memory would be ok, but angry outbursts would be incorrect.
If possible I'd like to know the outcome....
Just hearing your story brought a tear of my own.

If they are going to deny everything , than save the money and go to court.
