Yes, change your password frequently ( at least each week) & make it a least 12 alphanumeric characters.
As well ... make sure you have a non Windows firewall, an updated antivirus & 3 spyware programs installed on your PC.

I think Yahoo offers a great protection from hackers and phishers with the use of an emblem. You shold set up your own emblem and it would appear everytime you log-in to a Yahoo protected site.
You should not fill up your log-in information if the emblem doesn't appear. It may be a phishing site.
Also, regularly check you computer for viruses and keyloggers that could retrive personal information(s) like username and password and transmit it to the hacker's inbox.

**Yes, they can enter any mailbox if they want. There is no solid prevention eventhough how many times ur going to change ur passwords. (My Buddy has no mercy & would really crack any balls if they pissed me :d)
