USB Flash Drive is write protected - How do I remove it?
While transferring files from my PC to my USB Flash Drive. I received an error message - The Disk can not be written because it is write protected. Please remove the write protection from the volume in drive \Device|Harddisk1\DR5.

How do I do this?

Either a switch on the side or password protected software on the drive itself.

Refer to the manual that came with the unit or research that particular mode on line.

Actually could be 2 different things...one is the drive is full or close to capacity, making it impossible to add anymore files which the pc may be reading as write protection rather than full. Secondly the drive may be write protected, or encrypted...if you can open the files on the flash and edit them then the drive itself may be set as write protected and if htere isn't a switch try right clicking on the drive and go to properties and check to see if "read only" is checked...if it is uncheck it, if not then you'll need to check with the manufacturer for more detailed info and instructs.

My flash drive used to have a little switch on the side that would turn on and off the write protection.
