The Oscars are of a higher standard.
Babel will definitely get an award. I don't doubt it for one minute.
Last night's awards were good for Helen Mirren and Forrest Whitaker, but I thought lowsy for all the supporting actors/actresses.
I also was surprised Little Children didn't get best screenplay.
I think that movie awards should be given out only at the Oscars and the Golden Globes should focus on television. After seeing the television awards that were honoured it seems clear that the judges need to spend more time viewing television programs. Too many series were left off the nominations even.
And House - well Hugh Laurie plays the same role every episode. I am not sure that more depth could be put into the role. This is not his fault but surely a more dynamic pick could have been selected this year.
I look forward to the Oscars as the place where they fix the 'mistakes' made by the Golden Globes.

I definitely feel that Oscars are held in a higher steed than Golden Globes. It's what the actor or movie will be remembered for for years to come. Every budding movie star or director has dreams of Oscars...not Golden Globes. An Oscar is like achieving a gold in the Olympics.

U mean dreamgirls?Oscars.it's a crazily big an important event.Well,if those 2 films dont get an oscar, the consolation would be every1 knows those r good films and it's already an honour to be nominated.sometimes,it's hard to tell whether a film will get an oscar or not.the favourites might not win. It's unexpected, just see last years when brokeback mountain was the fav but crash won instead. Most golden globe winners will go on to get an oscar but is it not a sure thing.

Golden Globe
Golden Globe awards are presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for excellence in film and television. Some 90 members of the HFPA, who maintain a permanent, primary residence in Southern California, vote for outstanding achievement in acting and directing of both dramas and comedies. The Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement in Motion Pictures award is also given out each year.
Oscar Awards
The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are the most prominent film awards in the United States and most watched awards ceremony in the world. The Awards are granted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a professional honorary organization.
In my opinion OSCAR has higher Standard.

The Oscars are "higher" because the judges are people in the film industry. The Golden Globes are judged the the Foreign Press, who are outside the industry.
