The newest drug here in the states to quit smoking is call CHANTIX. It is quite expensive and is a prescription. it is a 4-6 week program. I am in my 2nd week and have actually gone 3 days with no cigarettes. I usually smoke 2 packs a day. The medicine makes cigarettes taste horrible to the point of wanting to puke. I also have several peers and co-workers trying it with good success. Very little side effects. Some that I a m having are Vivid dreams, but not in a bad way; and frequent urination, again, not a problem.
Good luck. Quitting is the hardest thing I have ever done.

I smoked for many years. I stopped when I was pregnant with my second child, and over a year ago. It's just not good for you health, and here a pack costs $11! No way am I going to spend my money on things that may kill me and or others! It wasn't too hard,-except when I would see someone I knew smoking or smell it, then it was hard. But now, it's over 14 months since I quit and it still is a little tough, and probably always will be! I have never drank to where I couldn't stop-I really don't like the taste of beer or mixed drinks. I take medications, and would never, ever mix them!

In the US there is chewing gum that contains nicotine.
But you should just quit without anything. It's the best way.

I used a nicotene patch called "Nicoderm CQ" to stop smoking. They also sell a nicotene gum called "Nicorettes".
