We normally mix up the three positives quite casually as though they were the same.... but are they really just different words for the same feeling?

To me, the three would have to do with the amount of time you feel them.
Pleasure would be an instantaneous thing, joy would last for a while longer and happiness would be a mindset/mood that would last way longer, even to the extent of generalizing your life over.

I think it is a matter of degree. I feel pleasure at the (pleasant) prospect of doing somthing I like. But I feel real happiness in doing it. When it turns out perfect, I feel real estatic joy in living it.
