Exams are only pressure if you don't know the subject. If you didn't study properly and slacked around. Life is about pressure and if someone can't handle the pressure of an exam how can the handle the pressure of real life? Exams at the college level are suppose to give you confidence to express yourself with what you know and let you know what you don't know and need to get. KNOW YOUR SUBJECT exams builds confidence and they make you exercise your intellectual muscles.

I honestly wish so, because I am an awful exam taker. I get extremely nervous, answer everything incorrectly, and when the test is returned to me, I bang my head against the wall because I knew the answers! But I froze because of the pressure of the test.
Yet, that's what classwork, homework, and projects are for. For kids who aren't good at exams, the work in class usually makes up for it. Also, you should definately ask for extra credit.

I don't care how much pressure it puts on students; they need to suck it up.
However, I am a fan of alternative methods of assessment, such as portfolios. They show a broader range of student work, improvement, and achievement. The downside is, of course, they take forever to grade!

Exam's have been around since school started. We all survived, you can too. If you really think they are stressful, wait until you are an adult.
