I tried to get my answer at the Cingular website, but their website is a real pain in the neck. That's why I am asking you ppl...

O.K, it's quite complicated, but here it goes....

My Cingular phone is part of a Family Plan. My cellphone's home network is in D.C, I think. I have been living far away (very far away) from the home network for 5 months now. The area I am in is covered by a Cingular partner wireless service. My question is: will Cingular make me pay for roaming because I am far from my cellphone's home network AND because there is no direct Cingular coverage in my area?

10 pts for the answer with tangible PROOF.

YES!!! they will, I'm from CA and used Cingular but when I went on my internship in NEW JERSEY I came home to a fat bill of 3,000 bucks!!!! and I asked a Cingular broker if it was ok for me to be that far and they said, "YES" because roaming is free. So yea, i had to pay the bill and if you going to ask somebody make sure you had them write it down in paper haha well, good luck and I hope you dont have a big fat bill to pay off.

The T&C's for all wireless companies include a clause that states that if you live far away from your home network, they have the right to terminate your contract.

This is Cingular's

Off-net Usage: If your minutes of use (including unlimited services) on other carrier networks (?off-net usage?) during any two consecutive months exceed your off-net usage allowance, Cingular may at its option terminate your service, deny your continued use of other carriers? coverage, or change your plan to one imposing usage charges for off-net usage. Your off-net usage allowance is equal to the lesser of 750 minutes or 40% of the Anytime Minutes included with your plan. Cingular will provide notice that it intends to take any of the above actions, and you may terminate the agreement.
