What do you think of UK Big Brother's Racism row?

Jo'Omeara, Danielle Lloyd and Goody are accused of abusing Shetty, what your view?

If it weren't for juvenile, obnoxious, petty behavior related to being drunk, sleeping around, being attractive, fitting in, not fitting in, being loved, or being despised, no one would watch stupid reality television like Big Brother. Those people are in that house to offend, betray, annoy, back-stab, lie to, and otherwise make the others in the house somehow beneath each other in order to win a large sum of money. All sorts of vile behavior has been shown on Big Brother and everyone thought it was cheeky and scandalous and entertaining until the victim was from India, and then suddenly we all expected the housemates to be nothing but dignified and loving and respectful of all diversity and human rights. WTF?!

My position is this. If you are a Big Brother watcher then you - by definition - find yourself entertained by people acting horribly and cruelly to each other. Don't you *dare* have the nerve to suddenly be offended because you think that making fun of someones accent is unspeakable while lying and cheating and betrayal and general despicableness is "just good TV."

I blame Channel 4 for enhancing the programme and exhibiting in common words the small information that they knew might want to reason the perfect uproar. The racism concern i imagine has been blown all out of share. If Shilpa or Jermaine had stated something like this to between the white housemates might want to this were picked up? i do not imagine so. As time-honored the whites are racist and by no ability the blacks or colored. Mr Blair and Mr Bush have a hellish lot to respond to for.

What do you expect you place Jade Goody and her mom in a house with what were possiblily decent people only for them all to want to win something Big Brother is a waste of time and shows the Goody family to be ignorant,and lacking morals.

This was the worst type of racism i.e. where the perpetrators don't have the intelligence to see that actions such as imitating someone's accent or making someone of different race feel unwanted or undervalued is racist. What is most remarkable however is that Shetty has made no complaint. Perhaps it should be left to her rather than the baying mob to to take action.

They are bullying her, that's for sure. I think they'll be mortified when they come out and realise what peoples perception of them is, but then again Jade and Danielle are both too stupid to comprehend why their actions are upsetting people. Jo is obviously well travelled from her time in S club, which should make her more culturally aware of different national customs.

I think its more to do with class then actual racism, Shilpa has class and they don't!

I'd love to know what C4 is going to do about the whole thing, or are ratings all that matter?

over the top as usual ....don't think its been a question of racism more of class ....if your accent education etc don't fit your gone .....its been a lesson ...... if you have nice accent dress nicely ... make people feel inferior which shilpar did omg cant remember how to spell her name honest ...had it written down somewhere ..sorry ..... then yes its been lesson on abusing jade mentally and thats as bad as physical abuse were not all stupid .... as far as India is concerned butt out this is UK like it or lump it

From what I have heard I would say it is not racism, the bitches on big brother are obnoxious to several different people irrespective of race. The real tragedy is the thousands of politically correct morons who complained and see racism around every corner. Shoot the lot of them and a high percentage of racism would disapear overnight.

These comments are only based on what I have heard because I would not watch intelligence insulting rubbish like big brother.

first of all, i think the following should happen:
1) channel 4 should be investigated and fined by OFCOM- if they do not take further action against those 3 'dumb' blondes and repremand them
2) jo, danielle and jade's careers would be finished by the time the show finishes hopefully and so there's no going back for them
3) the police should get involved and thus, they should take into consideration the complaints made by viewers over the mistreatment of shetty
4) the other housemates jermaine, dirk and ian to name should speak out and condemn their behaviour

i think they're a jealous bunch of no-lifes.Everyone's saying there's no racism involved,there is-jack referred to shilpa as a "paki" while talking to jade about her.I think we're not seeing the full picture here as BB cut so much out of the program or mutes the conversations of the housemates.Personally i think the show should be scrapped as it's not very interesting.The only reason they made the celebrity shows is to boost the ratings up.
