I was with my boyfriend at a local restaurant, and he gave me a kiss. Then this group of guys came up to us and started calling us names and one threw a soda at us. Why did this happen?

I would tell the police about it and report it as a hate crime. Police departments are taking hate crimes committed against the community more and more these days. It would be interpreted as such if they tossed a soda to a black man and white woman kissing and they wouldn't tolerate it either.

Anyway, I do wish you luck and give those bigots hell in court!

They did that because they're too insecure about they're own sexuality that your public expression just scared them. So, as all too many straight males do, they express their fear in anger and violent behavior.

I'm not making excuses for them, it's simply wrong what they did! I'm so sorry to hear that happened. It makes me sick to think a loving couple can't even share an innocent kiss of affection in public. It's not like you were having sex on the table or groping each other infront of the crowd. It was a simple kiss, a small token of affection and appreciation.

Some straight guys are just so miserable and low that they have to make everyone else feel as insecure and terrible as they are!

These people are p*ssies. These homophobes always attack in groups. They're cowards. I'm a straight woman and I have alot of gay male friends. Several times me, my girlfriends and our gay friends have been out in public and sometimes people (it's always groups of young guys) have made derogatory comments. When we confront them these p*ssies always back down. If someone would have thrown a soda on one of us we would have knocked them on their a*s. We still have a long way to go. It's sad and unfortunate that these people are so insecure that they have to harass people just because they're different.

If I was eating at a restaurant and I saw two guys kissing I would totally lose my appetite and throw my soda at them as well

I'm sorry that happened. I hope the restaurant manager did something. As customers in his/her business you deserve to enjoy your meal.
To approach anyone in a threatening manner can be asault. I think you should report it to the police or your citys human rights commission.
The jerks did it because they figured they could get away with it. Don't let them.

Physical expressions of love in public, whether a kiss or hug, are looked down on in many cultures. Any girl who allows herself to be touched, or kissed in public is sort of a free for all, one of little self respect, willing to show her willingness to all that she be touched and kissed. A girl like this is looked down on as I said in many cultures, in fact, would be slaughtered like a sheep for the shame she brings on herself and family. You consider people being cruel and mean to you. They only disrespect you because you have acted in a manner which is considered disrespectful in many cultures and your boyfriend deserved what he got as well because he showed you no honor, if he has any at all, by allowing everyone to view his "expressions of love" to you and how he "loves" you.

I can't really answer that, but it happens. Maybe they're not too evolved. People can be cruel in every walk of life. Not just you.
