I just recently purchased a new Ps3 premium system. I am on a standard def. T.V., and even though the graphics look pretty amazing, I hear that there is some kind of special cable for non high def. T.V. owners to hook their Ps3's to their sets with that will enhance the pic quality even further. If so what cable is it that I need? I am currently using the standard def. cable that was included with the system.

I just purchased an S-video cable today. I hooked it up and was rather disappointed. It did seem to slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) enhance the picture as far as the crispness of the graphics and lines, but thats about it. I play on a 27" phillips flatscreen T.V. I really wish I could afford a high def. set.

you can use an s-video, only if your tv is compatable with it. i personally sugggest that you save your money for about a year and buy an hdtv for about $900, trust me it is worth every penny!

What you may have heard is kind of a "wives tale". The whole gig has to do with the fact that most areas have strong UHF stations and the old woven copper jacketed coax cable is pasa today. The RG59 TV coax has been replaced with RG6. This has an aluminum jacket covering the center conductor so no signal can get in. In many cases a short coax jumper from a VCR or a Game to the coax jack on the back of the TV acts like an antenna at the UHF spectrum. This can add the UHF signal to the VCR,Cable or Game signal and cause so called "fming" in the picture. (Looks like a overall pattern of shimmering s's on the picture) The aluminum cable (shielding) prevents that. But the cable that comes with most games has that type of shielding so unless you see an interference problem a cable change may not help.
