I once was at a car dealership and a man walked in looking like he just crawled out of a dumpster. He pulled up in this junky ole Ford pickup truck... backfiring all the way. I overhead the salesman saying "don't waste your time, he can't afford nothing here". There was only one salesperson who took the initiative to treat him like any other potential buyer and he went to talk to him. The man walked in and pointed to a brand new Ford F250 truck and said I want that. He wrote a check and drove out in that that brand new truck....
Point being, you can't tell....probably a rich man lives poorly and a poor man lives rich, but in severe debt.

that depends on your definition of wealth...
in terms of material wealth:
i guess the rich man is one who has achieved a state wherein he has financial freedom. he has acquired a rather large amount of riches to provide him with adequate sustenance and more. aside from having all the perks of material riches, he also has time on his hands. the poor man experiences a great lack of so called material riches and is generally considered unfortunate. he is supposedly in a state very close to hopelessness where he feels he loses his freedom. his sustenance relies on a will to survive rather than material things.
in terms of spiritual wealth:
the rich man finds that he has reached a point of contentment. he finds joy in simplicity and knows how and when to accept various circumstances. he applies the right kind of attitude to get by different situations as best as he possible could. thus, he is able to live a meaningful life to the fullest. a poor man is blinded by the obstacles laid out before him and barely finds contentment. he is restless because he seeks too much whether or not he is conscious of it. he feels life is one really big complicated messy struggle. he never really feels enlightened.
