You're on your way to being a stand-up comic! Hope you're not looking for a scientific answer, but you just couldn't resist adding that little joke. Maybe they do it because once the male impregnates her, what good is he to her afterwards? It's not like there's going to be midnight cravings and he'll go to the store. He's not going to hold her hands while she's giving birth. Maybe she didn't want to mate and get pregnant in the first place! That's enough reason to get rid of any male in any species!

They are compassionate creatures, wouldnt it be better if human females did the same rather than indulge in the great deception that leads to marriage and a life time of suffering for the unfortunate man too trusting to see what lerks beneath?
