"Spoonerisms are named after the Reverend W. A. Spooner (1844-1930) who was Dean and Warden of New College in Oxford, England. He is reputed to have made these verbal slips frequently."

Spoonerisms happen when we get our murds wixed. Like 'I'll sew you to your sheet" and "Prinderella ran down the stalace peps and slopped her dripper".

Absolutely true: At an AA meeting here, a guy said he had spent the last two years in a "drunken Bolivian". Another guy yelled out, "Does she have a sister?"

("drunken oblivion" was the intended term)
