I grew up before computers were in people's homes. I took computer classes (private and at the community college later), and got help from my son (who took computer repair in high school)--and still don't know how to do many things on the computer.
For example, when I want to forward an email with attachments, I can't get them to attach. I have a scanner, and have no clue how to use it. I have a printer, but they no longer make the ink so that I can use it.
Well, at least I can look up things that interest me, write letters and use the instant messenger at AOL (I can't figure out how to use Yahoo's or MSN's).
Therefore, I congratulate you on being able to teach yourself to use the computer! You must be very detail orientated (I am not, obviously), and have a lot of patience.

I basically taught myself too, with a little help from a friend over the phone back in 1992, (with Windows 3.1). from there on I began building my own computers from parts I would buy at the computer shows.
Now I'm bored!
