I have an professor who always feels inclined to voice her political and social opinions at us class in our ENGLISH class. She always comments on how she is pro-choice and sneers at politically conservative views. Whenever using an example to demonstrate a point for an assignment she uses a liberal belief to get her point across. It is an english course based on arguments. I consider myself conservative and do openly express my views in the class, however she dosn't seem to be too thrilled about that. Anyone else ever had to deal with an unfair professor like this?

Let me give you a tip. 8 or 9 out of 10 professors hold the exact same views as this english argument teacher of yours...most are just not vocal.

Here is the deal though...it is an argument course. You are already at a disadvantage, because if you upstage her using reason and examples and cites that are based on fact, you will not only lose points, you will be relegated to the C+ or B- world at best.

If you are a conservative, what you need to do is actually "LEARN" what she is teaching you. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, she is training the next crop of journalists and teachers to do the same things our media and professors are doing to the conservatives now. Reason is out the window. Logic is out the window. All is about feelings and perception of corruption and the utopian swill she spews is the result. However, there is a common theme running through all liberal press and writing...a common thread if you will...they are spectacularly hotair driven. You need to understand you are in a course for learning how to professionally bullsh*t. So Learn the techniques of your future adversaries. Learn the weaknesses and guarantee yourself a high B...then, on the final essay and exam destroy her with your real thoughts by pointing out the weaknesses in her system and philosophy and logical arguments...but do it in the form of a question...start it out like this...

"After studying Pickthall (or whoever you are studying) and attending your lectures, I find myself confused by the way in which the techniques can overcome A, B, C..."

Then build an argument off of that topic sentence using her tactics...and snooker that beotch.

No sense in fighting it but do not compromise your beliefs. Remember that what is hip in the abstract, idealistic little world that is "anycollegetown USA." Is mocked pretty much everywhere else other than the big cities where 50% of the vote is dependant on government handouts or works directly for the government. You are there to get a degree and to get a job and once you do, you can bet your buddies will have stories of looney liberal professors as well. It is a bit like the high school history teacher that thought he had all the answers and only later do you realize what a small time dolt he actually was.

LOLZ. You got an easy one.

Ur a smart guy right? So instead of getting fed up with her, be nice. Make jokes, be light-hearted, and treat her like she knows what she's talking about. Remember that she doesn't know everything and that your job is to get the grade. You do not have to agree with her beliefs and she might even be wrong, but you do have to listen so you know what it takes to write a good essay and make a good argument.

One of the essentials of being successful is understanding the difference between opinions that matter and ones that don't. Fact of the matter is that your professor isn't a politician or a businesswoman that wields tremendous clout. Just hammer through her even if it means "bending your virtues" (psht, yah right) and being polite. Remember, you got an easy one. There are a lot worse teachers out there.

comprehend that college, even if HS or college, you've form. I had an honors English Prof in college who became an complete-on communist. He under no circumstances reported it, yet from his historic past, movements, and his coaching, it became obtrusive. try this: regardless of slant the Prof and there T.A.'s are frontin' - basically roll with it. I were given an A in a classification I completely disagreed with from the starting off position, lectures, and paper matters, basically through going with the bypass. regardless of became interior the lectures, and regardless of became in section - write about that completely. truly the T.A.'s, regardless of they lecture on is what the numerous aspect is. solid success, and undergo in concepts - it is your grades, not your beliefs which will make your GPA. Suck it up, cuz it truly is what the pastime marketplace expects of you also.

It's her class and if she wants to voice her opinion, at least she is using her freedom of speech. And you don't have to agree with her, but just block it out and get the information you need to get that grade. Take it from me- half way through Masters Program in Behavioral Science.
