no, the American influence is too strong, his communist state will collapse after the figurehead of the communist movement (Castro) bites the dust

I suspect that the transition to Raul will be a smooth one and the US will take the opportunity to resume relations or Hugo Chavez will claim to be Cuban and make a real mess of things.

Not immediately.Cuba is not like China which had a massive shift in policy within a year after Mao Zedong died in 1976.I think change there will be gradual and occur over a period of many years.
