Same reason we don't let Americans vote for or against the U.S. occupation of Iraq. The warmongers would lose.

That they were brave enough to turn out in such numbers for their own election was a testimony to the courage and the strength of the people of Iraq. They risked their lives to do so.

The people who have the most control in this situation are on for the most part two sides, with a smattering of foreign meddlers. Not a bit sure we are not currently meddling. If the Shea's are in control, in such an election, any Suni voting would be taking a huge risk. And vise versa.

Without a doubt, one side or the other profits by our presence. I will let you sort out who this is and why.

The "situation in Iraq" meets every definition of a Civil War. And frankly, we have no place in another Nation's conflict.

I feel great pride in our troops, but as most of them are not much younger than my own kids, feel a keen responsibility to make sure I feel like our Military is able to supply and support these brave young people.

I have seen nothing to indicate that this is currently the case, and I wonder at the billions of dollars that have gone into this War.

When our Military is reduced to offering forty thousand dollar sign on bonuses to 20 yr olds, it is time to take serious stock of where we are.

It it time to stop this runaway train wreck that is the Bush Administration.

If it is not already too late.

A recent poll shows 81% of Iraqis feel it is a good thing to kill US soldiers.

I'll take that as wanting us out.

because even if YOU do you will find those who want you a majority.

even those who support the insurgency will vote for the US to stay because they are afraid of the blood shed that will happen after it leaves.

After YOU win that vote every thing will remain the same, the insurgency, the civil war and the daily killing.

Their government has stated OVER and OVER again that they want us there providing security. If you pay attention to what people are saying you would know this. The Iraqi government fully realizes that a complete pullout of US forces would throw the country into more anarchy than it already is. If you care about making Iraq a stable friendly ally of the United States, you would want our troops to remain there until our mission is complete.

They elected a govt. That govt will decide when they can handle things without us. Iraq is a representative democracy, not a direct democracy.
