In animal and plant cells primarily in the necleus, although there is considerable DNA in the mitochondria as well.

In bacteria it is not compartmented and hangs out everywhere.

And ofcourse in viruses its within the capsule of the virus

in eukaryotic organisms its in the nuclei of cells. however in prokaryotes they have no nucleus so its in the nucleoid region
