I'm planning a coaster-riding vacation, but I don't own contact lenses and I fear for my nerdy glasses. They fit my head pretty well, but i'm still not sure what could happen at some of those velocities.

Glasses are subject to gravity, and will fall off.
If you really need them to see, and I know that I do, you should wear them with an elastic restraint.
The type that is somewhat cool are called "Croakers".
They are adjustable and can fit most glasses.
They can be found at most sporting good stores or at good sun-glass stores.
It's much better to wear your glasses so that you can see the ground as it rushes up to meet you.

Yeah I think that wearing sunglasses on a roller coaster would be a bad Idea because the would most likely fall off. My mom went on a coaster once and we didn't even go upside down but she lost her persription sun glasses.

i wouldnt go out and get contacts for your amusement parks.. i got contacts and they're really expensive. so unless you want to pay for the contacts then i'd just take them off and hold them, or ask someone not on the ride to hold them. You'll be fine just for the rollercoasters. But everyone keeps saying "just wear contacts!" It's not that easy. It's a starting $135 fee and $20 a box. and you'd have to schedule a seperate appointment to go get them 'fitted' i guess..

I wear glasses and have been on many rollercoasters. There is no point going on it if you cant see the drop thats coming (the suspense is the worst). Do a test by doing hand stands or make yourself go upside down, if they fall off then dont wear them.

the wind force will help them stay on your face :D

I used to take off my glasses on rides, until I found that I was getting sick from everything being blurry (this happens when I am without them and not on rides to), so I started wearing them without any problems. If you are worried about losing them, you can always get one of those straps or strings that you connect to the frames to keep them on your head or at least around your neck if they fall off.

Do not wear your glasses on a roller coaster that has sharp turns, loops, corkscrews, or big drops. I wouldn't them on anything except maybe a drop tower. Because my friend had a cell phone on one ride and even though it was securely placed in his pocket that was velcoed it still fell out in a loop and broke to pieces.

if anything, get the grips that will attach to the ends of you glasses and wrap around your head. my dad didn't wear anything to protect his glasses and lost them as we were dropping on Dueling Dragons. It is a bad idea to wear glasses on a rollercoaster without anything to hold onto it.

I had a pair fall off on an amusement park ride. When you get on you can usually put stuff like flipflops/stuffed animals in like a little cubby. good luck. Dont wear a hat on there either..

Had a kid in my youth group several years ago loose his glasses on a coaster. I would definitely not wear them.
