I have heard some of the reasons why but I want to hear peoples point of views on why a person rapes.

The reason I ask is because lately I've thought about it alot. Alot of my friends, even I have been raped or sexually harassed. Plus recently a girl I like alot also admitted it. Which made me more angry than when anyone else admitted it. I personally wish she would at least tell police so that the report is on his record even if it can't be proven. I have more darker wishes against this rapist but I can't act upon them because of the law(which isnt justice).

Anyways why do they do it? Can't they masterbate or at least keep it in their pants, whatever the reason may be? Don't they ever realize how much they have hurt someone, and not only them but alot of other people? Plus that it causes the raped to have future troubles?

I dont care if or not you have been in the situation. Whosever thoughts count. Though I would like to hear it from an actual rapists point of view.

i was raped by an ex. i beleive he did it out of revenge, and to make me fear being with anyone again. He had a history of sexual violence before i was with him, and i think that it was something he was desensitized to. after thinking about what he'd done in the past, it wasn't such a big deal in his mind. it was pure control on his part. he wanted to control me, since he felt he'd lost control of me.

I haven't reported it either. i probably never will. it's been a little over 4 years since then, and the guy that i'm with now has the same feelings that you do, and has since expressed them to me too. it's really hard to regergitate the situation, even now, although i'm at the point where i can talk about it to some people, but i dont think that i could go thru any type of litigation. the 'law' doesn't seem to care about anything like that, especially since nobody knows where he is now.

the hardest thing to do is to move on with your life after sexual violence, because you feel used, dirty, helpless, unwanted, and unloved. you feel that noone cares about you, so why should you care about yourself. but once you get past those things, and realize that you're just as much of a human as the next person, and just as deserving of love as anyone else in this world, then you begin the healing process. the bumps and bruises will heal, scars will fade, but the mental part lingers much longer. it's a very hard thing to get over.... but it is possible.

i urge anyone that needs to talk about rape or sexual violence to email me, and know that i've been in that position too. its' hard to talk about, but you will feel much better once you get your feelings off of your shoulders.

there are tons of rape counceling programs, support groups, and hotlines, and many of them are willing to be completely annonomous... USE THEM they help.

good luck, to you, and to anyone getting thru this horrible situation, and please, to anyone with that urge, realize that it is just as bad as murder on the person you hurt and their family and friends.

Well if the Duke guys did rape the girl was it for violence or control, I don't think so. Maybe the guys are just horney. That's the only reason that i could think of. Rapists don't care for the other person's feelings. Yes i see that but you can't leave out the simple answers. Sometimes i think an autocracy that kills people for any bad thing the've done is reasonable. I believe that John Locke's philosophy and the Bible's Philosophy on being born with selfishness is the reason for some of the rapes but not all.

This is a time old question discussed in all aspects of psychology. From what i have studied and learned it is usually a power issue. The peopel that commit rape usually are obsessed with the power of the situation, it has nothing to do with the sexual gratification. The act of rape extremely empowers one while humiliating and generating compelte fear in the victim. If the full answer to why the person commiting the rape feels this way could be answered more could be prevented.

The fact that it DOES cause the victim to suffer for an extended period of time is part of why a rapist does it. The pleasure comes from being in complete and total control of another person and taking something away from them that they will never be able to get back. Most rapists are so emotionally and psychologically scarred (or just plain screwed up) that they aren't able to obtain sexual satisfaction unless they have that particular situation.

They probably do it for revenge. I'd bet most rapists have had fairly damaging relationships in their past and have blamed the girls for the pain.

They might have came to the conclusion that rape would be a perfect way to get their revenge.

And also all human beings feel emotion...you have to be extremely ignorant to think otherwise.

You need to understand that rape is not necessarily a sexual act. It is an act of control and violence. A rapist does not think or care about his victims. He only cares about the feelings he is having at the time of the attack.

There may be various reasons, and those who do are not limited to morals, nor do they care what pain it may bring. Those who do may be more driven by self-pleasing acts while disrgarding the effect it has on other people. It's a hard world that we live in, conflicted by those who only want to please themselves through the pain of others.

From a psychological point of view, rape is about power; sex is merely a means of expressing it.

They are psychopaths (literally). They don't even acknowledge anyone else's feelings. The don't have empathy. Same with murderers.
