Sorry that I don't have the answer for you but it would probably be a very good idea if your daughter saw a different high risk gyn as soon as possible. Hoping and praying that everything works out for your daughter.

Depending on how far along she is the should do an ultrasound to determine if the baby is growing or not and the ultrasound would show more in regards to if there is a heartbeat or not. With my first pregnancy my mom wouldn't shut up until the Dr gave me an ultrasound because I was 13 weeks and they couldn't find the heartbeat. With my second pregnancy they did one at 8 wks to find out how far along I was so I got to see the heartbeat but they didn't find one with the other device until I was about 28 wks pregnant and even then it was hard. I ended up with an ultasound at every drs appt up until 28 wks because of the heartbeat. I would ask for an ultrasound to know for sure but even then if it is an early pregnancy there still probably won't be a heartbeat on there.

hey there.
i have been pregnant 3 times.
first time they told me that they couldnt find her heartbeat.
my midwife didnt tell me there was no heartbeat tho only that a baby is very little in the first trimester and that they have lots of places to hide under the pubic bone. this was at 12 weeks pregnant and at my 16 week apointment bubz was just fine :)

my second baby i had bleeding at 10 weeks but we found the heartbeat at 10 weeks no problem this one wasent shy :)

my third baby that i am pregnant with was hideing also at 12 weeks we couldnt find a hearbeat but had a appointment on monday at 17 weeks and we found bubz. i even had a scan with this baby at 5weeks 1day that showed i had a non viable pregnancy how wrong could they be :s im nearly 18 weeks

so good luck your daughter and baby will be just fine. never listen if you dnt agree. and allways go with your heart. a mother is allways right and she knows her body more than anybody else.

hope this helps

How far along is your daughter? if she is under 10 weeks it can be a little difficult to hear. At 10 weeks the nurse was able to find the beat and the following week I went top see the OBGYN and he couldn't find it but the baby was just fine. When I had a miscarriage last year and my Dr couldn't find the heart beat he order an ultrasound right away, if on your next appoint. the same thing happens you should ask for one, good luck!

How far is she?
I will edit this after we know a little more.
But during the first few weeks it can be harder to hear.
But things must be ok they didn't say she lost it just that he couldn't find it ..right?

Jan 21rst..copy of what I sent private just in case it doesn't get to you.
I will pray for you both tonight. I am sorry I didn't get this till now.
I will do some research tonight and let you know if I find anything good. I have my Mayo Clinic Medical book. And I have the computer.
I think all is ok really I do. I think her baby was behind her pelvic bone and the echo could not reflect back. But I still will look up what I can.

Have the doctors monitor the baby's rate of growth. If the child is developing in your daughters womb, then the no heart beat is probably incorrect. Babies with no heart beat do not grow. Find a specialist and go to that person for an examination. Other noises could mask the baby's heart beat.
What term is she in, does she feel the baby moving?

When i was pregnant, I started bleeding at 7 weeks and went to he emergency room. They discharged me with papers for a miscarriage, due to not finding a heartbeat. The very next day, I went to my OBG/YN and they had no problem finding the heartbeat. The doctor said it was probably just how the baby was positioned. Good Luck!!

Yes it is possible. This is the same thing that happened when I went to my first prenatal appointment. I was 8 weeks along but my pregnancy was no longer viable after 6 weeks. How far along is your daughter? There's always a chance that she may not be far enough along for the heartbeat to be heard.

My s-i-l had a similar problem with her doctor. She was attending the "free" clinic and the doctors were actually interns, so they got things wrong sometimes.

What did the doctor tell you to do last time, when there was no heartbeat? Did they say to wait? How far along is your daughter? More info would be helpful.

Do both a vaginal and over tummy ultrasounds at the same time, if can. This will determine for sure if so, and get a different doctor than both those to look at it, not either one of those. Could even try a stethescope or one of those baby listening devices they sell in stores now, and try yourselves. But do the ultrasounds too.
