Dear Celal,
Yes you are right to ask about Turkey and Greece. I live in Rhodes, I have so many friends there, and 3 times per year I go to Marmaris. The hospitality is wonderful, I like Turkey, I am greek. However, you must always find cultivated people to know the history, and to appreciate the good things. Concerning the Ottoman Empire, they hadnt been so pressed the greeks, because the sultans especially to the islands gave many privilages. But there have been other black moments of th history, and this due tho the big forces not obligatory form us or you.Concerning Byzance, dont forget that it was a multinational state, and they were all fighting together, so the turks also found the chance to enter. Means that circumstances forced people to have this situation.
Further in Anatolia you go, more fanatic you ll find..Yes, becuase it is not their fault. It is lack of education. But in the west part of Turkey, people deal with the world more, and they know. I have been so wellcome in Turkey, I never have problem, my friends do everything every time I go.So...it depends on the education of people not of their nationality.

Actually I don't think they think about Turkey at all. I don't think there has been a war since 1922, other than Cyprus which is not Greece. Ottoman Empire didn't own Greece, it took it by force. For that very reason the Ottoman Empire does not exist anymore because people do not want to live under anyone's rule. Yes, the Greeks and the Turks have a lot in common like the food and the music and the climate and this and that...Ottoman Empire didn't do very nice things to the people they invaded and whose lands they took by force. That is probably why people in those countries have a hard time liking you. Just think about this, Russia comes and invades Turkey and rules it for 400 years. After 400 years of brutal rule you kick them out. Well years later they come back to you and say: but look we have the same food and music why don't you like us? Well you know what the answer is....you would find it very hard like those Russians. By the way, I am of Turkish descent and I am tired of this Greek Turkish bull... we are in the 21st Century.

Listen, friend, this is a very-very long story...
Don't forget that long before the Ottoman Empire, there was Alexander the Great who had conquered all East (Turkey included) under the name of this Macedonian kingdom and the Byzantine Era followed... Does this prove anything?
It you study international History, you will meet a common fact, that countries sharing the same borders have always tense political relationships; just think of the English and the French, the French and the Germans, the Polish and the Russians, the Chinese and the Japanese, Israelis and Lebanon...
I am sure that Greek people have absolutely nothing to share with Turkish people and two times I visited Turkey, I appreciated Turkish hospitality. We are very alike you know...
The war is not between people but between countries and is a means of selling weapons to countries that don't really need them!
I hope that we will never more get into conflict.
You?

History being what they tell us it is and teach us in schools, creates "truths" and "lies". We are in the 21 Century and it is high time to bury the hatchet. If Greeks were as smart as they claim to be and if Turks were less gullible politically supporting a virtual military junta they could develop coperative plans that would make the whole basin the premier tourist location in the world.

Celal do you live in Turkey now. It seems to me that you don't live in Turkey. Both countries are in peace for many years now. Why do you ask this question. Is it because you want to "light the fire". If that is the case then I suggest both nationalities to ignore your question.

I am Turkish and could not stop myself from replying you.

I think you need to ask your questions with proper English and remember that Greece and Turkey are in peace for more than 80 years.
