Is this a good deal or should I look elsewhere? The car is all original with a 400 eng, 4 brrl carb., and great condition original red paint and functional convt. top. He hads the car listed at $9500 but said I can buy for $8750. Is that a decent deal, should I talk him down, look elsewhere? Need some input from old car experts. What should I do to get it for a cheaper price?

I am a car dealer and if you offered me $8750 for that car I would feel rich when you left. That car wholesale is worth about $6000-$6500 tops (and I am being SUPER generous as my own personal bid wouldn't be over $4500-$5000........but I would probably be outbid by someone wanting it more than me)........add $1000 profit to the dealer and he should be ecstatic. Tops $7500. Don't even worry about bluebook on ANY car over 5 yrs old......it's a WASTE of time. Even if THEORETICALLY kbb had values on cars older than 1987 (which they DON'T for all you non savvy car ppl out there).....bluebook would be super low on this car compared to what it is really worth. The mileage would not be rolled back on a 1973 model car as likely as it would be miles in excess of 100,000 as there were no 6 digit odometers until the early 80s. Regardless, miles won't matter much to anything that old unless it comes with documentation.

I agree, in good to very good condition, that car is worth 7000-7500 tops. Completely restored, 10 grand maybe. Any car that old will likely have rust. Check the rear windows, trunk and doors for rust. Check very closely at the mechanical systems. Are the brakes new? Tires new? Conv top new (very expensive), wiring good? Cooling system? Suspension and steering good? The chevy 400 engine could be strong, but some were plauged with overheating and rod bearing issues. Make sure its healthy.

Only if the car runs and the tires and brakes are ok. Drive it first to get to see how it runs. check the title as to if its an A-b-c-
How many people have owned the car. ask why he's selling it.
hows the body work look? Get a car fax on the Vehicle.
Does it burn oil? Any oil leaks under the hood. Do the brakes make any noise? Is it a current inspection. Have a local mechanic
put it up on the lift. AAA can do it for you. Check the book value.
Can you offer less and get it?

A friend of the family had a 75 convertible, the last year Chevy made it...solid car, luxurious, and the engine was strong...this car sounds like it is in good condition...see it , ask to take it for a drive, bring a mechanic or more car knownledgeable friend and weigh the pros and cons after checking the Blue Book value.

I would see if you can convince him to lower the price to around $8000 and they are very good reliable cars, the 1971-76 Caprices aren't as high in demand in the classic car market like the pre-1971 models are though.

I would buy it for around $7500-8000, you don't see very many of the 1971-75 Caprice Classic convertible's at all.

umm im kinda on the fence. Buy tho i wouldnt argue with someone who said That Word of Mouf was classic beacues it had at least 2 number one hits(i think 3) and they were pretty good songs and the rest of the album had some hott songs too i wouldnt myself call it classic but i could see how someone might call it classic I think that Ludacris could be looked on as one of the best mainstream ( if you call him Mainstream) rappers of our time ( when you compare him to 50 cent, TI, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and SOuilja Boi he has to be) Just beacuse he has an attitude and can do seriuos songs but dosnt take himself too serously and i find him pretty funny when he trys to be but yes Buy

Try to compare to blue book pricing, the miles seem really low for the year the vehicle is, make sure the odometer is not turn. Blue book will tell you the honest price, better safe then sorry
