It's not really necessary, especially if you're still breastfeeding because the first milk out of your breasts every time you breastfeed is a thinner milk that quenches the baby's thirst.

she doesn't need water at this age. In fact, giving too much water to a young baby can cause malnutrition because they will feel full when they're not, and can even dilute a baby's blood. But at six months you shouldn't have to worry as much about this. some water is fine, I know alot of people who give their babies water after a meal. And if your starting to teach her how to use a cup or sippy cup, you're defenitely wanna use water (formula's too expensive to spill and juice gets sticky) my son is the same age and this is a good time to introduce diluted juice which will give you something to supplement with. So pretty much, some water is fine for a 6 month old, but there's no nutritional requirement for it.
god bless

A litlle water in between feedings wont hurt anything. Jut be prepared for more diaper changes...here body doesnt realy need extra water at this point so it will go from point a to point b rather quickly. It has ups and downs. Water can also comfort a hungry baby temporarily until your ready to feed her.

Its kindav a ya/na thing at this point.

And dont take the advice of giving here juice........NOT recomended for a teehting baby or any young baby....especialy if its not watered down..

You are doing great! today I had my Son's 6 month check up and his Dr told me that the breast-milk or formula is the way to go, he said no additional water is necessary and he said NO juice since it doesn't provide any nutritional value to the babies diet, people do it mostly because it taste good. Keep up the good work!

She doesnt need water at this point but you can offer her a little but you dont want to give her too much.. you wouldnt want water filling her up to much where as she gets her fill on it and not on actual food or milk..

my husband and i asked the doctor the same question. they said a couple ounces is o.k. The baby recieves it through your breast milk and formula any way.

Not necessarily. Breastmilk and formula both contain plenty of water. You shouldn't need to offer water unless your doctor tells you to.

My mom always told me they (Babies) get enough water in their formula (mixing it with water)...I never did give my son water and i trusted what my mom said cause she had 7 kids.

Yes, she does need water if she's begun solids but only bottled or filtered water only. She is also ready for 2-4oz of 100% juice, one part to two parts water but that is personal decision.
