First of all, the web page is a bunch of crap. Iams made no such claims to PETA of all people and do not have to answer to PETA for any thing they do behind closed doors. This was a propaganda piece sent out by PETA because certain animal food manufacturers would allow PETA behind their closed doors. The government already knew what these companies were doing and it isn't quite the way PETA is telling you on THEIR web page. There has been and are no court documents with regards to Iams or any other dog food company from PETA.
Also, if you only knew how they got the products we use today, many companies still test on animals, and they always will. Their justification is that it is better than testing on a human. They may not do it in the US, but Mexico is wide open. Believe me hun, the more you stick your nose into what companies do to make and sell their products, you would be come a hermit.

Unfortunately this is a sensationalised take on something that may or may not be occurring. I'm not sure of the truth of that website because it has no need to be truthful as it has an agenda. The worker who gave the information may be a disgruntled employee with an axe to grind and spreading vicious rumors about the company. Anyway, I feed my dog a mix of different brands, and have never been tempted to buy Iams because it's overpriced anyway. My dog is a healthy 3 1/2 year old fox terrier/chihuahua mix who prefers canned food.
I once had a friend who tried to make his Great Dane eat a vegan diet because of the "problems" with commercial dog foods--stupid idea because dogs are naturally carnivorous! The vet told him to stop or the dog would die of starvation.

This is not a fact. In fact, the statement that Iams company is cruel to animals is highly disputed. You shouldn't let a website like this make you stop buying products from a company altogether. There's been a lot of propaganda, particularly over the internet, about Procter & Gamble (the company that owns Iams, Swiffer, and other products). Much of this has been entirely false. The rumors going around the net about Iams cruelty to animals could also be entirely false.
The claims about the neglected animals under Iams' care all comes basically from one worker. This person could be exaggerating, they could be very emotional and dramatic, they could be outright lying, or they could be taking facts and twisting them to make them look worse than they are.
Check out the links in my source list.

I am so glad that people are starting to become aware of what this company does. I haven't purchased Iams food for years.
Hill's Science Plan is a better dried food anyway, and vets recommend that over Iams.
Thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention. You should post it again in the Dogs and Cats sections.

Not only this, but Iams changed their formula a few years ago.....Did you know that when Walmart decided to sell Iams (along with other stores), they had to promise a certain profit per bag, so to make that "walmart" profit, Iams started adding alot more corn (and something else, I don't know exactly). The vet told me this as well as Ucle Bills Pet store in Indianapolis. I guess, it's like paying alot of money for Purina quality food.

Stop giving your dog scraps. Whoever comes to your home, tell them to not give human foods. When you feed your dog its food, only sneak in a little bit of human food so that it wants to eat the food you give. I'm sure that pretty soon when the dog is used to dog food, you don't have to sneak in anymore human food. Try buying your dog the canned dog food like cesear, beneful, etc. This way it tastes sort of like human food but for dogs. I hope I helped

OMG!!!! I have 4 dogs and 2 cats, i am a true animal lover. How could any human being with a heart harm animals for profit, or any other reason for that matter. I will spread the word, and will never, ever buy their products again. They should be prosecuted!!!

If you really love your pet you should cook for them yourself. The meat they put in pet food is the most disgusting and diseased meat that slaughter houses can get away with selling. If you read Fast Food Nation the author talks about it a bit, that's not to mention all the other disgusting things they add.

Don't believe everything thing you read . . . be the skeptic, believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see.
Fun fact: A certain high profile animal rights organization (P***) destroys more animals in a year than they 'save'. One of their directors takes insulin every day, which is derived from cows, which never would have been discovered if it were not for animal testing.

first off- every pet food company test on animals because they gotta know what taste good to pets.... second- i use to work at a vet and did notice that people who fed their pets iams, their pets had intestinal problems, which in some cases resulted in death..... that is the only problem wrong with their food.... EVERY PET FOOD COMPANY TEST ON ANIMALS, DUH! how would they know what the animals would eat if they didnt test
